Digable Planets- Reachin

I'm sure 95% of you never heard of them but they are VERYYYY dope. They infuse jazz instrumentals and heavy(for the 90's) bass. Their lyrics are more poetic, reflective of a lot of the underground hip hop scene in the 90's. I recommend them for true fans of hip hop not you lil boosie ass niggas.

Kanye West- 808's and Heartbreak

No I'm not lonely and no my heart was not recently broken(although...nvm). Contrary to popular belief this album is great. It's obviously not typical Kanye so a lot of people(including myself) hated on it when it first came out. I was in high school so i didn't fully grasp what the nigga was sayin honestly. Having been in a real relationship this album is genius. I now notice the trend of people who say this album is wack haven't been in a real long term relationship, so they can't relate.Completely understandable. Musically and lyrically it's on par and as far as I'm concerned Kanye has a perfect track record to date. Kid Cudi wrote 1/3 of the album in case you didn't know.....speaking of which...

Kid Cudi-MOTM2- The Legend of Mr Rager

One of my favorite artists so I may be biased. This album sonically and lyrically is just on par. Cudi is just so different  with his style. He's one of the few hip hop artists that makes good music all around. He can sing on a track, but he can also flow very nicely with a laid back style. he does his thing and doesn't really give that many fucks about what you think.Definitely a must listen

Check these out if you're in a chill mood but still wanna listen to hip hop. These definitely won't disappoint

Swag Jerry Rice...I think I'm Jerry Ri- Oh wassup sorry just zonin out to Based God. Haven't done one of these in a min and since multiple FLAMES were dropped this week I figure it's due for an update. First off:

Watch the Throne- Kanye West/Jay Z

So by now I'm sure most of you have heard this. I personally love the album by itself, but it definitely did not meet the lyrical expectations I had by any means. They have some fire tracks up there tho. The production is done really well, although sadly following Kanye's new trend of overproduction at times. The overall vibe of the album is good from the first track on. Check it out and take it for what it's worth:

The Eleven One Eleven Theory- Wale

Wale released this very solid project this week with mostly positive feedback. He proves that he's as introspective as anyone yet just as street too. The production is good, but it's his lyrics that really capture attention, talking about politics, sports, the DMV area, cars, and of course beautiful women. Give this a listen:

Thursday- The Weeknd

FINALLY!!! Nigga toyed with us all summer before finally releasing this tape last night. Soon as he tweeted about it his website crashed within seconds. Let be be the first to tell you that after about 3 lonely listens this tape is CRACK. Him and his team are goin places and he's only 21. The production, his vocals, pretty much everything about the tape is very mellow minus " The Birds pt. 1". He also had Drake sneak into the booth for a song so slyly i don't even think Weeknd knows he on the mixtape.  But definitely check this out if you partake in sexual activities tho. If you don't then still check it out for the good music, although you will feel lonely after.

Wassup Y'all...back for another Thursday just to give you insight on what's bumpin through the headphones lately...you may know most of my selections this week, but trust me i assure you my music taste is more extensive than this music may indicate.

First off the most obvious,

Frank

This obviously has been getting more rotation than usual this week in particular. Her voice and music is just amazing. "Frank" is my personal favorite over "Back to Black", as the "jazziness" and hip hop elements are more prevalent and I like the sound more, as opposed to the more quirky 60's feel of B2B.

Moving on, 

Janis Joplin

Janis may be lost upon many people of my generation, but ya parents and old heads know exactly who she is. She is widely regarded as the "Queen of Rock and Roll" and considered a legend. She's also unfortunately part of the infamous "27 Club" with Amy Winehouse, Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Colbain, etc. Her voice is a hate-it-or-love-it kind of voice, as it's very raspy at times and country as well. I was very recently turned on to her music after some lonely Wikipedia browsing and checked her out...so far the tracks most memorable are:

• "Summertime"(My favorite)
• "Piece of My Heart"
• "Me and Bobby McGee"

I know this was for Thursday, but i have to let people who haven't heard yet, about The House of Balloons tape... Now before you go download this, don't expect sharp flows and genius punchlines yo, this is an R&B tape... that's right, singing and harmonizing...so download this, call up a shorty tonight, press play, and thank me later..
All hyperboles aside though, this tape is sure to put you on the expressway to the box. What We're Bumpin- Brey

Wassup Y'all...just checkin in givin away some of the music i been bumpin in the Beats headphones lately... Sorry to disappoint the hip hop heads(@dwolfunc) but most of the music lately hasn't been rap at all...

So i was goin through the old album collection and found this:

Most of you may not listen to rockish rap but this album is fuckin DOPE....the best track is "Nookie" in my opinion and I've had that on repeat to get me hype for the day. Another track i love is "Just Like This"

Moving on to Jazz(my favorite genre)...I've been lying down just coolin it to :

Yep, Foreign Jazz...this is one of the best Jazz albums personally, and if you like jazz or just "Chill" music as I do I definitely recommend it. Notable tracks are : "The Girl From Ipanema", "Desafinado", and "Corcovado".

Last, but not least:

Everything But The Girl. I don't know ONE other person besides my mother that listens to them. They are the epitome of chill music. Drum and bass, plus chill vocals and piano makes for great music to just lay down and escape the struggle of everyday life. Notable Tracks are : "Corcovado", "Wrong", and "Before Today"...
